Park Get First Win

A 106 run 2nd wicket partnership between Ed Gray and Chris Kent led Greenwood Park to their first league win of the season.

Park beat Totteridge Millhillians by 131 runs after they posted an above par 214-8 and then bowled out their visitors for 83 before 30 overs.

After Captain Kent had won the toss and elected to bat Greenwood lost Shafaat Hussain early for seven, but with the skipper and opener Gray together Park built a strong foundation.

Gray would go on to get his second half century in as many weeks, before he was out caught for 63, and Kent totalled a resolute 44 before he was dismissed.

There was also some fine late order hitting from Azhar Rashid (23) and Ajmal Hussain (17*) that took Park to a solid position at the halfway stage.

With the ball Ajmal Hussain was exceptional, moving the new ball both ways, taking 3-19 from nine overs.

There was also success for fellow quick Vinil Palai, whose fast bowling spell deserved more than his final figures of 1-19.

Park continued to take wickets in quick succession, including a run-out, and victory was sealed when debutant Awais Paul claimed the final dismissal.

This week Greenwood travel to Northwood as they look to make it back-to-back wins.
