Northwood Town II’s 102-10
Greenwood Park* 103-3
A destructive bowling performance from Greenwood Park’s attack set up a vital home victory against Northwood Town II’s.
After two weeks of rain-affected games, Park claimed a huge 30 points as they propelled themselves into second spot in the table.
It was a day of first-ball dismissals, as Troy Petchey, Vishal Pujari, Shafaat Hussain and Arslan Khan (first legal ball) all struck with their first deliveries.
The other bowler in Park’s attack – Ajmal Hussain – also struck in his opening over, finishing with 2-28 from his 11.
Pujari finished with the pick of the figures, 3-16 from nine, but was excellently supported by Khan, 2-17 off seven, and S. Hussain, 2-0 from two overs.
With the bat, Greenwood got off to a great start – openers Ed Gray and Pujari putting on 86 for the first wicket.
Pujari top-scored with 42 before he was bowled, and just two overs later Gray was out caught for 37.
Rakib Ali then fell for 0 before Chris Kent 15* guided his side home with keeper Jimmy Otter 1* in just 21 overs to take Park into the promotion places.
It was also great to have Dave Lee back umpiring after heart surgery earlier this year.
Lee, one of the most popular figures at the club, looked like he had never been away and everyone at Greenwood is thrilled to have him back.
Next week, Park host Waltham X Rosedale as they look to close the gap at the top to Radlett IV’s.
