Greenwood Park slumped to a disappointing defeat on the opening day of the new league season.
Park lost by six wickets to newly promoted Northchurch II’s in a below average performance.
Despite a strong 49 from Atique Ahmed and a cultured 47 from Arslan Khan, Greenwood could only post 183 as they were bowled out inside 43 overs.
In truth, the visitors were probably 50 runs short of a par score after being put in.
Looking to bounce back, Ajmal Hussain got the Old Chiswillians off to the perfect start – removing R. Patel for 0 in the first over.
However the hosts then put together a strong 2nd wicket partnership that gave them control of the game.
There was a slight glimmer of hope for Greenwood when Badruj Jaman picked up 2-28 off his seven but it wasn’t to be as Northchurch ran out comfortable winners.
Next week Greenwood host Little B. Sahibs as they look to bounce back and pick up their first win of the year.
